Migraines: Manage Your Migraines the Right Way

A migraine is defined by a pulsating or throbbing pain on one side of the head. It’s generally accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and noise that’s severe. Hormonal changes, beverages, tension, medicines, and food can all trigger migraines. Migraines may occur for a few hours to days at a time and be excruciating; in certain circumstances, they can even cause damage to basic functions.

Here are some tips to manage your migraines better:

Cooling Down

Putting an ice pack onto your forehead or neck during a migraine may help to ease the pain. You may also try dampening a washcloth with cold water.

Using Over-the-Counter Drugs

Using over-the-counter medicines to get rid of migraines instead than prescription drugs is a viable alternative. Acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and naproxen are some of the OTC medicines available at pharmacies.

Getting Enough Sleep

For the average person, 7-8 hours of sleep is sufficient to prevent migraines. Sleep deprivation and oversleeping have been linked to headaches and a decreased pain tolerance.

Managing Stress

If stress is your main migraine trigger, then it’s crucial that you relax when possible. Ease up on yourself whenever you can.
